Biography
Jared Longland is a Japanese American video artist and photographer. He was born in Sparks, Nevada where he grew up and attended school in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Bearing witness to the struggles of the community he lived in, Longland pursued an undergraduate degree in journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno where he reported primarily on the homeless population of the region. Longland graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Nevada, Reno where he grappled with the question, “How can we bring empathy into the socio-political dilemmas we are faced with?”
Jared has worked professionally in video production and editing, photography, graphic design and installation art across various industries and as a freelancer.
